1. The Three-Fraction Mass Balance in Industrial Fishmeal Production
Industrial marine fish processing represents one of the most profitable bio-refinery conversions in the seafood sector, refining pelagic fish catches and fillet by-products into two strategic global commodities: protein-rich fishmeal and Omega-3 fish oil.
The sequence operates across continuous closed loops: raw fish is gently cooked via indirect steam to coagulate proteins and liberate cellular lipids, followed by twin-screw mechanical pressing dividing feedstock into two phases: solid press cake and press liquor. Decanters and high-speed centrifuges split the liquor into crude fish oil and stickwater. SonFlow thermal exchangers and vacuum evaporators play the decisive role in capturing soluble proteins from stickwater.
