Case Study: Recovering 3.8 MW Waste Heat to Generate 140°C Industrial Steam at CP Vietnam Binh Duong Plant

1. Plant Background & Baseline Challenge

CP Vietnam’s agro-processing industrial complex in Binh Duong consumed over 3,200 metric tons of boiler fuel oil annually to generate saturated process steam for cooking, pelletizing, and sanitary sterilization. Concurrently, plant effluent and secondary cooker vapor discharged at 58–68°C with flow rates exceeding 120 m³/h, representing substantial enthalpy waste and burdening the plant’s mechanical cooling towers.

The core engineering challenge was the presence of suspended organic particulates and fats in the effluent stream, causing rapid fouling and clogging in conventional tubular heat exchangers.

2. Engineering Architecture & Equipment Selection

Lecoqimex deployed a 3-tier integrated thermodynamic architecture:

  • Tier 1 – Primary Heat Exchange: SonFlow Free-Flow Plate Heat Exchangers (SFF Series) engineered with 6.5 mm contact-free flow channels fabricated from AISI 316L.
  • Tier 2 – Enthalpy Lift: Skyven ArcaHeat™ industrial heat pump elevating effluent enthalpy to 140°C (3.6 bar steam) at COP 3.85.
  • Tier 3 – Pressure Delivery & Telemetry: ABEL HM diaphragm pumping units and Meta Smart Factory edge vibration telematics.
